Defenseman, Forward Join Roster

Orlando, FL – The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have agreed to terms with D Gleason Fournier and F Gleason FournierBrock Montgomery.

Fournier (6-0, 190 lbs.) was drafted in the third round, #90 overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2009 NHL Draft and has 19 points (3G, 16A) in 71 ECHL games.  In 68 AHL games, Fournier has two goals and 10 assists for 12 points. He played 25 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) last season, recording two assists, and also appeared in one contest with the Toledo Walleye. In 2012-13, Fournier helped Grand Rapids win the Calder Cup Championship while scoring one goal and adding five assists for six points. He also scored one goal in 15 games with Toledo. Fournier began his professional career in 2011-12, posting four points (1G, 3A) with the Griffins and 18 points (2G, 16A) in 55 games with the Walleye.

Prior to starting his professional career, Fournier played four seasons (2007-11) with Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL, tallying 133 points on 31 goals and 102 assists. The Rimouski, QC, native was an alternate captain in 2010-11 and had his Brock Montgomerybest offensive season in 2009-10, finishing second among team defense man in points (50) and assists (37) while ending the year third among team defense men with 13 goals.

Montgomery (6-1, 216 lbs.) made his professional debut last season appearing in six games for the AHL Calder Cup champion Texas Stars and scoring 24 points  (9G, 15A) in 45 games for the Idaho Steelheads. Montgomery played four seasons (2009-13) for the Kootenay Ice (WHL) before joining the professional ranks, finishing with 65 goals and 54 assists for 119 points along with 328 PIM in 243 games. A native of Moose Jaw, SK, Montgomery finished second on Kootenay in goals (31) and points (48) in 2012-13 and helped his team collect the WHL Championship in 2010-11.
